#128: Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. The Miz vs. Stardust vs. Zack Ryder vs. Sin Cara, WWE WrestleMania 32 (4/3/2016).
This is a 7 Man Ladder Match for Owens' Intercontinental Championship.
WWE loved the idea of a multiman Ladder Match from WrestleMania 31 so much that they did it again for WrestleMania 32!
At least this time, it had a better storyline. No one was stealing the Intercontinental Title from Kevin Owens multiple weeks at a time, unlike poor Bad News Barrett. Well, actually, there wasn't a ton of storylines going for this one, either. Everyone just kind of wanted a shot at Owens. But hey, Sami Zayn is on the main roster now, and he and Owens fucking hate each other!
Everyone gets a decent reaction for their entrance, but Kevin Owens' entrance was nuclear, at least in person.
The bell sounds and everyone but Owens goes for a ladder. He fights everyone off, and then Zayn comes in with a ladder. They opt to throw hard punches at each other. Zayn with the upper hand, and Ziggler hits him in the back with a ladder.
Cara with a missile dropkick, sending a ladder into Owens. Stardust powerslams Cara onto a ladder. Ryder counters a Suplex into a neckbreaker into the ladder. Miz is the lone man, and he throws a ladder to Cara on the outside.
Miz looks to climb, but Zayn and Ziggler cut him off. Blue Thunder Bomb by Zayn to Ziggler. Owens is in, and back body drops Zayn into the ladder laying on the ropes. Rough Ryder by Ryder to Owens. He sets the ladder up, and Ziggler meets him there.
Stardust pushes the ladder over, knocking them out of the Ring. Cara and Stardust go flying to the floor below. Zayn is back up, and he sets the ladder up. Miz pulls it away from the center. Zayn runs the ropes, and launches himself over the ropes and through the middle of the ladder with a senton to everyone on the outside!
He follows with his DDT through the turnbuckle to Owens on the other side! Zayn climbs the ladder, and Cara cuts him off. Cara climbs next, and Zayn pushes the ladder over, and Cara bounces off the top rope with a senton to the outside on everyone else!
Big superkick by Ziggler to Zayn. In the Ring, one to Stardust, Miz and Cara. Ryder gets catapulted into a ladder, then gets superkicked as well. Ziggler climbs, and Owens pushes him down. Both men superkick each other. Stardust grabs a Polka Dot Ladder from under the ring, an homage to Dusty Rhodes' shitty WWE gimmick.
Stardust uses the ladder to knock everyone down. Miz counters with the Skull Crushing Finale into the ladder. Owens with a neckbreaker across his knee to Miz. Owens tosses the Dusty ladder away. He kicks Cara as well.
Zayn and Owens start fighting in the corner again. Owens blocks the Helluva Kick, and knocks Zayn onto a ladder laying on the ropes. Owens hits a frog splash from the top onto Zayn!
Owens sets a ladder up, and hits the Pop Up Powerbomb to Miz. Ryder bounces the ladder off of Owens' head, then scales the top. He hits the El-Bro drop to Miz from the top of the ladder!
There's a ladder on the outside laying on the barricade and the apron. Ryder climbs for the title, and Ziggler meets him there. Ziggler with a facebuster to the mat below! Ziggler may have hurt his knee.
Ziggler makes the climb, but Owens grabs him from mid way up and hits the Pop Up Powerbomb. Stardust hits Cross Rhodes to Owens. Cara kicks Stardust onto the apron ladder. Cara makes the climb, and Zayn grabs his leg. Cara kicks him away. Owens pushes the ladder over, and Cara goes crashing through Stardust and the ladder, breaking the latter!
Owens is alone, and makes the climb. Zayn is up there with him, and they continue their fight. Owens rakes the eye and knocks Zayn down. Zayn pulls him off the ladder and hits a half nelson suplex onto a ladder. Good lord.
Zayn starts his climb, and is almost at the title. Miz is back in, and he pushes the ladder over. Zayn is down, and Miz makes the climb. He holds the title and poses, and Ryder rushes up and pushes him down! Ryder grabs the title and is the new Intercontinental Champion!
This was a really good match then, and it only gets better with time. The interactions between Owens and Zayn were super hot, and everyone else got a chance to hog the spotlight throughout this. The spots were super creative, and they came off very well. The Dusty Ladder tribute was nice, and you can tell in Cody Rhodes' face how much it meant to him.
I still pop super hard for that Half Nelson Suplex that Zayn did to Owens. That was fucking gnarly. Zack Ryder winning was a big surprise at the time. Unexpected results was basically the theme of WrestleMania 32 - well, except the main event. Ryder deserved this, though. He busted his ass over the years, and having this kind of moment was well deserved.
And on the plus side, when he lost the title one day later to The Miz, it kickstarted a run of high quality work from The Miz that is still going to this day.
