#192: Dani Luna vs. Alex Windsor, RevPro Revolution Rumble (3/31/2024).
This is #9 in my Top Matches of 2024.
This is a Dog Collar Match for Luna’s Undisputed British Women’s Championship.
Here’s a match I discovered via Instagram. One of these two, I don’t remember which, posted about this match back in August, and I was intrigued – a Dog Collar Match between one of my favorite women from NXT UK, and Mrs. Will Ospreay? Sign me up!
The bell rings, and both women test the lengths of the chain. They each yank on the chain, pulling on the other’s neck. Windsor takes the first shot, whipping the chain into Luna. They pull each other close, and Luna blocks a swing with forearms. Windsor tries to run away, but Luna pulls her back into the ring with a shoulder tackle. Luna throws Windsor across the ring, and then she does it again. Luna with a forearm to the face, and she follows up with 10 punches in the corner.
She wraps the chain around her fist, but Windsor escapes and uses the chain to pull her down. She wraps the chain around her fist now, and she decks Luna in the head, which busted her open. Windsor uses the chain, grinding the metal into the mouth and teeth of Luna, dragging her around the ring. She sends her straight into the corner. Luna rolls to the floor, but Windsor follows and uses the chain to pull her into the ring post.
Luna gets pulled into the post again, as Windsor targets her ribs and chest. Luna blocks another shot, but Windsor is smart and uses the chain to wrap Luna against the post, constricting her whole body from anything! Windsor grabs a chair from under the ring. She goes to use it, but Luna yanks her into the ring post, with the chair in her face! Luna grabs the chair and hits her across the back with it. She rolls Windsor into the ring, and she sets the chair up.
Windsor fights back with a drop toe hold, sending Luna face first into the chair. She follows with a sidewalk slam into the chair, and Windsor gets a nearfall off of that. Windsor positions the chair between the top and middle ropes next, as Luna fights back with forearms. Windsor looks for the Sharpshooter, but Luna kicks her away, then sends Windsor face first into the chair. Luna with a big boot to the face, and a big German Suplex, and another!
Luna with the Air Raid Crash, and Windsor kicks out. Luna kicks her in the head, and rips her shirt off that had an X over Dani Luna’s name. Windsor with an Olympic Slam out of nowhere, and Luna kicks out. Windsor uses the top rope to tie Luna up, adding contortion to the neck. Several clotheslines follow, until Luna uses the tied up chain to her effect, guilloting Windsor! Snap piledriver directly on the apron by Luna!
She wraps the chain around her fist, and punches Windsor with rapid fire precision! Now Windsor is bleeding. Back in the ring, Luna trips Windsor with the chain, then hits a seated lariat for a 2 count. Windsor with elbows and a fist to the head, and she uses the chain for a Russian Legsweep, and a vicious clothesline on the mat for another nearfall. Windsor goes under the ring, and grabs a dog kennel. She slides it in the ring, and sets it up for Luna.
Windsor unloads with forearms to the back, and she slides Luna into the cage. She slams the door into her head, before dropkicking it into the head! Windsor tries to drag Luna towards her on the top rope, but Luna is fighting back! She climbs up to meet her, and headbutts her, and then slaps her in the face. Luna lifts Windsor up for a Death Valley Driver into the dog cage! Somehow, Windsor is able to kick out.
Luna resets the cage, and hits a suplex into the cage, bending it in a nasty way! Luna covers, but Windsor kicks out again. Windsor blocks Luna Landing, and they collide heads in the middle of the ring. Double clothesline by both, as they crumble. But Luna is back up, smacking her bloody wound! Windsor with a drop toe hold into the referee, and a headbutt, and a clothesline! Windsor grabs the chair, and hits a corkscrew suplex onto it! The referee is up, and he counts, but Luna is able to kick out.
Windsor locks the Sharpshooter in, as Luna bleeds on the mat! Windsor uses the chain for added pressure! Luna is still in, and she escapes, locking the Crossface in on Windsor! Luna uses the chain across her mouth for more pressure, but Windsor turns it into a quick nearfall. Luna forearms Windsor on the apron, and uses the chain to hang her from the inside of the ring! Windsor tries to run away, but Luna grabs her and hits a middle rope German Suplex back into the ring! Luna Landing connects, and she wins to retain the Women’s Championship!
What a bloody war that was. I was dropped into this with little to no context on their feud, but I was sucked in immediately by the sheer brutality of it all. What it lacked in weapons spots, it made up for by making the chain the star of the show, and every big spot mean something. Everything looked like it hurt, and that’s a testament to the performers involved in how they told this story of survival. A dog kennel spot in wrestling sounds silly, but here, it looked brutal.
The ending sequence, with Luna trying to hang Windsor, and transitioning into a middle rope German, Ibushi style, was fantastic. That’s the kind of spot that elevates a match. You don’t often see a Dog Collar Match between women, and I can’t think of another, honestly. But, this worked. It was a violent, bloodbath, and it felt like the two genuinely hated each other. That always helps in wrestling.
