#208: Syuri vs. Risa Sera, STARDOM Flashing Champions (5/28/2022).

This is for Syuri’s World of Stardom Championship.

At the beginning of the year, Prominence, a faction comprised of women who specialize in Death Match wrestling, made their presence known in STARDOM, with the main crux being Suzu Suzuki’s issues with her former senpai, Giulia. As the year went on, the group looked to take out the top woman in STARDOM, so faction leader Risa Sera stepped up to the plate to face Syuri for the Red Belt. The result was one of the stiffest matches of 2022.

They rush each other at the bell, and Syuri immediately hits a German Suplex. She then kicks the hell out of Risa’s back, then stomps on her head. Risa with a hard elbow, and Syuri responds with one of her. Nice exchange here. Syuri with hard kicks to the chest, and then she hits the side headlock takedown. She transitions into an arm bar next. Risa rolls to the outside, and grabs her kendo stick. The referee tries to take it from her, and Syuri rushes to the floor to take her down and unload with hard slaps to the face.

Risa takes top position and unloads with forearms. She picks Syuri up, and the champion responds with a standing shotgun dropkick. Back in the ring, Syuri goes back to the arm bar, and Risa gets to the ropes to break the hold. Prominence trip Syuri when she runs the ropes, and Risa takes advantage by hitting her with the kendo stick and choking her with it. The ref sees this, and takes it from her. Air Raid Crash by Risa, and she goes into a Boston Crab next.

Risa reaches behind and grabs Syuri’s arms, and has her hanging off the mat! She quickly and rapidly drops her chest first, then hits double knees to the spine. Syuri tries to fight back with rapid knees to the chest in the turnbuckle. Risa blocks a rushing attack and clocks Syuri in the jaw. She connects with a Buckle Bomb, then double knees to the face. Syuri is right back up with a running knee to the face, and a German Suplex!

Death Valley Driver by Risa, and the Air Raid Crash again. They rush each other and unload with hard elbows to the jaw. Syuri then hits a closed fist punch right to the face! Syuri with some light kicks to the face, and hard stomps to the chest. Risa is smiling, as she goes to swing her kendo stick, but Syuri catches it and forearms her chest. Syuri sets it down and goes to attack Risa, who grabs the referee and places him in front of her. Risa uses this as a way to take the stick and take the referee out!

Risa with a kendo stick strike to the spine, and here comes the rest of Prominence to assist with the attack. On the apron, Risa connects with the Air Raid Crash straight to the floor! Ami Sourei tries to fight Prominence off for her God’s Eye mate, but the kendo stick takes her out as well. Back in the ring, Risa connects with an absolutely nasty kendo stick strike to the head. She places Syuri on the top rope, and hits the Air Raid Crash!

She follows up with a double knee to the chest from the top rope. The referee is back up, and he starts counting Syuri out. She manages to get back to her feet, and she kicks the stick away. She then kicks Risa in the face, and breaks the stick in half! Lawn Dart right in the turnbuckle by Syuri, and a running knee to the face! Hard kicks to the chest, and Risa goes down. Syuri applies the sleeper hold next, and Risa is able to get to the bottom rope.

Syuri with the V Trigger, followed by a roundhouse kick to the head, and a soccer kick to the face! Syuri with the sleeper hold again, and Prominence throw the towel in. Syuri retains the title by KO! What a fucking war. A sub 15 minute clash that was all action and no filler. Both women wrestled this like a street fight, and it came off for the audience. Syuri’s MMA background and Risa Sera’s mastery of hardcore wrestling matched up well, and it made for some exciting action. They wrestled like they were out to destroy the other. The kendo stick shot to Syuri’s head is as sick as it was the first time I saw it years ago. Just absolutely nasty.

Syuri’s technique won in the end, but I’d almost say she got lucky. Risa Sera wrestled like a woman possessed on this night, and on another evening, she may have walked away with the Red Belt.
