#247: Cesaro vs. Sami Zayn, WWE Raw (6/13/2016).
This is a request brought to me by one of my buddies at work.
This match takes place on the go home episode of Raw before Money in the Bank, where these two will compete in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match. I just reviewed their NXT Arrival match a while back, and it was excellent.
Cesaro is doing his James Bond entrance, where he enters wearing a suit, and then rips it off to reveal his ring gear. I always thought that was cool.
The bell sounds, and they lock up quickly. Zayn takes control of the arm, and Cesaro kicks his way free for a nearfall. Zayn with a shoulder tackle from the apron, followed by a head scissors takedown for a 2 count. Zayn takes the side headlock, but runs into a tilt a whirl backbreaker from Cesaro, which gets the Swiss Superman a nearfall. Zayn goes to dive from the apron, and Cesaro catches him with an uppercut, sending Zayn to the floor.
Back from commercial break, Cesaro has a half Camel Clutch submission locked in. Zayn goes to the top rope, and hits a crossbody for a nearfall. Cesaro with a hard uppercut, and a running uppercut in the corner. He hits a few more with ease, and then goes for the Cesaro Swing. Zayn blocks it, and Cesaro hits a Double Stomp for a nearfall. Cesaro kicks Zayn in the face, and Zayn explodes up with a big clothesline.
Michinoku Driver by Zayn, and Cesaro kicks out. Zayn goes to the top rope, and Cesaro catches him with a dropkick. Cesaro with a huge suplex from the middle rope, all the way down to the mat, and Zayn is able to kick out. Cesaro looks for the Neutralizer, but Zayn counters and looks for the Blue Thunder Bomb, and Cesaro counters that. Zayn with a Code Red out of nowhere, and he gets the win on Cesaro!
Decent TV match. It’s nothing compared to their work in NXT, but for the main roster, there’s nothing to complain about here. They both got plenty of offense in, and they looked impressive in the process. Zayn’s win was considered a bit of an upset here, and they sold it very well. Not a bad one here!
